Computer Use Authorization Form
for the Physics/Astronomy Network of Intel Computers (PANIC), 448 and 475 Birge

Instructions: PANIC accounts are available free of charge to all first year graduate students, and any other unaffiliated graduate students (students not officially in research). All other users must use this form and include a fund number or agency name to bill. The PI will be contacted with billing information. If you are eligible for a free account, use the Free PANIC Account Form

Read the Conditions of Use, below, then complete this form and click on "Submit Application". Your application will be mailed to the system administrator. You will receive an e-mail when the account is created (usually within 3 days).

All fee accounts must include account information. The sponsor or PI will be contacted with billing information. Access to PANIC costs $250 per year.

Conditions of Use

The Physics/Astronomy Network of Intel Computers provides computing power and console access for research use in support of the University's mission of teaching, research and public service. Open access to resources on and off campus is a privilege, and requires that individual users act responsibly. By signing this authorization form, you agree to comply with the UC Berkeley Computer Use Policy (see https://security.berkeley.edu/policy).

Users are also bound by local policies. Each new account contains a README file with basic policy and procedure information. Cluster policies are also available online at http://panic.berkeley.edu/policies.

Users will have thirty (30) days following termination of their appointment with the Departments to transfer any files to their new location; user files will not be retained when account is terminated.
